Receiving a letter from Jed and Kaitlyn was a bit of a surprise. Not only I wasn’t expecting it, but it also lay hidden among bills and bank statements for a few days. Google and Facebook reviews of my wedding photography business are obviously very important and I managed to collect quite a few. However, it is quite rare these days to put a pen to paper and write a glowing testimonial like this.

Read MoreMadusha and Meheransh combined Indian, Sri Lankan and Australian traditions to create a visual feast that was their wedding. Just look at the colours and highly details outfits. All underscored by beautiful weather, light and locations. I love shooting around the sunset and in places where I can the golden light creatively. Sometimes shadows and dark areas are as important as the light. Scouting locations and experience always help :) I’ve photographed many, many times in Swan Valley and at Sandalford Winery.

Read MoreThis is the first time I’m doing one of these end of the year posts. I always found them a little cliche until I decided to do one. Turns out it forced me to look back at what I’ve done, who I photographed and how my work changed in the past year.
2019 turned out to be pretty busy. I photographed 49 weddings and pre weddings. Some people I photographed twice, some people’s weddings I photographed twice :) I’ve had 8 overseas couples coming to Perth for holiday and a bit of pre wedding fun. I tried counting photos I’ve taken but it proved hard. My Lightroom catalogue for 2019 holds nearly 100 000 photos but most of it has already been culled before it landed on my drives. The true number of photos taken last year is probably around 300 000 which means on average I’ve taken around 800 images per day, every day. That number involves couples only - 2019 is a year when I decided to concentrate purely on weddings and pre weddings. The decision behind it was simple. I wanted to become really, really good in my field and I wanted my images to go deep.

It was my first time at Eight Willows Retreat a really cool, small/medium wedding venue near Wilyabrup just North of Margaret River and South of Busselton and Dunsborough. The place is full of native flowers, has a killer ceremony spot among the Jarrah trees and is only minutes away from one of my favorite photo location down south - the Injidup Natural Spa.

If you're a wedding photographer, winter in Perth usually means work on things like taxes, your website, advertising etc. (all the fun stuff us creatives are super passionate about but never have time for during the wedding season)
Not a lot of people choose this time of year to tie the knot for obvious reasons.
But you could always get married in a different country :) Country like Ireland, where everything is green, Guinness is plentiful and there's lots of amazing looking places like Kilshane House.

Chandeliers on Abbey is a cool little venue located a bit off the beaten track. I’m not sure how Gemma found this place but find she did. Surrounded by bush, at the bottom of a hill and overlooking a little valley. It looks as nice as it sounds.

I love photographing The First Look as it's called in the biz of wedding photography. Away from a prying eye emotions often fly high.
The balcony was a last moment find but (it's Westin btw) what a cool find it was. Where else can you dance with this view literally at your feet :)

The wedding was a great combination of modern and traditional; quiet romance and pure fun; shadows and light.
I really like photographing at COMO as place offers unique architecture and light/shadows. The place is quiet, elegant and soft and so are the photos we captured after the First Look. Some happy tears were shed.
Mandoon Estate is all about being close to the nature. Ceremony right by the river; among the trees. Massive windows make you feel like the reception is happening in the middle of the bush.

And I love photographing at the University of Western Australia. The place is full of photographic potential if one looks beyond the cliches. Dara holding Hugo the Poodle is one of my absolute favourites photos. Palm trees form the perfect background and help the eye to find the focus of the photo, you can see the love there even if you don't know Dara. The next image is even better :)
