The Ultimate Guide: Planning Your Iconic Perth Pre-Wedding Shoot from Singapore (Featuring UWA & the Southwest)

Why Perth is the Perfect Destination for Your Shoot

Just like many Singapore couples planning a Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Perth, Carolyn and QJ's love story began during their university days at UWA. Their session became a beautiful trip down memory lane, back to simpler and more carefree times.

While Perth offers countless iconic locations, I love combining personal history with stunning backdrops. I aim for places that evoke strong memories—first dates, first kisses, favourite picnic spots—that are also iconic to Perth and Western Australia. We planned an adventurous two-day, two-sunset session, visiting UWA and Trigg Beach on day one before heading to the majestic Margaret River region for the second part of the shoot.

Where It All Began – The UWA Love Story

It was here, within the walls of the University of Western Australia, that their story truly began. Uni days are a time of hard work, but also newfound freedom and independence. We explored the campus, revisiting memorable spots like Winthrop Hall, the Great Court, and the Tropical Grove. As we shot, we chatted about how Carolyn and QJ first met, their early dates, and all the university parties.

I personally love photographing at UWA because it combines beautiful architecture with amazing light. Any time of day offers great open shade and backlight, but the late afternoon is when the magic happens, and the light becomes its own beautiful thing.

Carolyn chose an elegant lace white gown, and QJ wore a classic suit. It was a formal yet relaxed look that perfectly matched the setting.

Trigg Beach – One of Perth’s Best Coastal Backdrops

Perth’s beaches are world-famous, offering hundreds of kilometres of pristine, white sand meeting the Indian Ocean. While Cottesloe and Scarborough are the most well-known, Trigg Beach is where we go when we want to avoid the crowds and prefer a more rugged, limestone coastline.

After a quick wardrobe change into their second look—a relaxed, chic beach vibe—we arrived just in time to capture the first Perth sunset. And yes, we all got a bit wet and a bit sandy, but it was worth it for that perfect golden hour glow!

The Southwest Adventure – Margaret River

You truly cannot plan a WA Pre-Wedding Shoot without visiting the Margaret River region. This area is famous for its towering Karri and Jarrah forests, rugged coast, and world-class wine. And we came for the epic scenery!

Boranup Forest is where the old-growth trees still stand, allowing you to experience the natural, towering cathedral canopy of some of the tallest trees on Earth.

You can really feel the immense power of nature here and recognise how small we are when faced with it. It’s a feeling that brings us closer as small humans. The resulting images are authentic, focusing purely on your intimacy amidst the epic Western Australian landscape.

Planning Tips for Singapore Couples

If you're planning your Perth Destination Pre-Wedding Photography from abroad, here are a few simple tips to make the process easy:

  • Pre-Wedding Photoshoot Perth / Packages and Prices: My packages are time-based, allowing you to choose the coverage that best fits your itinerary. The 4-hour and 6-hour packages are the most popular choices for international couples looking to maximise their stay in Perth. The 6-hour package is split into two sessions, allowing you to organise a seamless two-day shoot, just like Carolyn and QJ did for this UWA and Margaret River adventure.

  • Create a Vision Board: Setting up a mood board on Pinterest makes the planning much easier. We are visual creatures, and a collection of images tells me much more than a sentence or two. Think of your favourite places in WA or landscapes that inspire you. Send me a link with your inquiry, and we’ll have a great starting point.

  • Embrace Simple, Natural Makeup: I encourage a simple and natural makeup look done by the clients themselves. This keeps the focus on your genuine connection and means you feel comfortable all day. Plus, wardrobe changes and touch-ups happen quickly between locations, so there's no need for a stylist to follow us around!

  • Trust the Process: Once I know what you like, I can come up with a logistical plan. I believe in simplicity, so everything revolves around you, your partner, and the scenery.

  • Timing Your Trip: Most of my couples come to Perth for a week or two, and we schedule the session sometime during their stay. I'm flexible, and we can change plans if needed due to weather (for example, to chase that sunshine!). Plan a holiday around your session or plan a session for your holiday!

  • Permits: I help organise the necessary Perth Photography Permits (like the UWA Photo Permit) and focus on planning, safety, access, and troubleshooting.

  • Relax and Be You: Don't worry about feeling awkward during the session. Everyone does at first, but that feeling quickly goes away. My style is candid and authentic. We'll start talking, and the magic will happen naturally from there.

We're in the same time zone, so send me a message and let's organise a video call to discuss your Perth Pre-Wedding Adventure!
