Jalbrook Estate Balingup Wedding: Jordi & Gideon’s 2-Day Aboriginal and Jewish Celebration
My first time shooting a wedding at Jalbrook Estate was truly a unique experience. The venue is located in Balingup, surrounded by the South West WA hills, and it’s perfect for small-to-medium weddings and elopements. It's not too far away from Perth either—an easy 2.5 hour drive from Fremantle. I was impressed immediately.

The Forest Clearing Ceremony: Perfect Light
The best part of the property to me is the forest clearing ceremony space. It’s open and framed by trees—a setup that creates the best light for natural and flattering photos. So many wedding venues near Perth make couples stand in full sun or, worse, put one person in the shade and the other in full sun. This space gets it right.

Fusion Wedding: Aboriginal and Jewish Traditions
Jordi and Gideon planned a massive two-day celebration that combined their traditions: Aboriginal and Jewish. It was a fusion of two cultures, and every part was carefully planned. Rabbi Sheryl explained the Jewish customs and Jordi's Family Elders took charge of the Noongar Traditions. Kippots were given out and everyone was Welcomed to the Coutry. The Ketubah was signed and Kangaroo skins were exchanged.

Film Photography for Film Lovers
Gideon is a dedicated film photographer, and Jordi is a Cultural Anthropologist. I'm lucky enough to be both of those things as well, and we were all on the same page from day one. It's been a while since I used my medium format Mamiya, and I was really itching to use it again. There's nothing like a film camera shutter sound when it's pressed. You’ll recognise the photos by the film edges.

Weddings that are a fusion of customs from different cultures have quietly become my niche. If you’re planning a bespoke, multi-cultural wedding at Jalbrook Estate in the WA, get in touch to chat about your plans.
